A Compliment a Day

Morning Gorgeous!

This post is about something I've been meaning to write for a while. It is a little different for me as this one is a bit more personal than usual.

I wanted to address the issues girls have with other girls - the snap judgement based on appearance. We are all guilty of this whether we admit it or not, can you really stand up and say 'I have never judged another girl based on her appearance'? We all do it, maybe some of us without meaning to, but we do it nonetheless. I know I have said 'what on earth is she wearing?!' on numerous occasions and it is something I am trying to stop doing.

Basically how I came to start thinking about all of this was on a night out. We'd had a few drinks and were having the craic and I saw a girl in a gorgeous red jumpsuit, I said to my friend to look at how gorgeous it was and how fab the girl looked in it. I then thought to myself, why am I not telling her that she looks gorgeous in it?!
So I did.
I went over and told her she looked amazing and her jumpsuit was fab. It turns out, she'd had a baby a few weeks previous and this was her first night out since she had the baby. It was her boyfriends birthday and she was panicking about fitting into her clothes again. She was over the moon to have a stranger pay her a compliment and told me that I'd made her night because she had been feeling self conscious. It was such a small thing to do but it meant so much to her.
I came away smiling because she was so delighted and thanked me over and over.

Essentially my question is, why do we all not do this all the time?
Its not like I have never paid another girl a compliment before because of course I have but this girls reaction just stayed with me. How many more people in there felt the same way she did that night and would have be delighted for someone to pay them a compliment? You have no idea what is going on in someone else's head and that tiny compliment could make a massive difference to them.

It can take so little to put a smile on someone's face so lets all try and be the person who makes that happen. I am not one for 'always being positive' (if you know me then you know how true that is as I LOVE to complain!) but when it comes to something like this I think we can all benefit from a little positivity!

Your Homework
If you are in public and you think to yourself 'she's gorgeous' or 'that outfit is fab' or 'her makeup is on point' then walk up to that person and tell them!

That's all for today.
Happy Complimenting!

Birthday Weekend

Morning Gorgeous!

Today I will be going through my outfit and makeup deets from the weekend, I had a fab night in House, Letterkenny on Friday with my lovely friends and it was fab. We drank cocktails, ate Pizza and played cards - such a laugh!

So first of all - I got my hair chopped! I love the blunt cut and I'm enjoying having straight hair again, I rarely straighten it so it's nice for a change! I also got a temporary toner in it which it a purple grey colour and its fab for a wee change! It only lasts a few washes so it's great to experiment with colours without the commitment!

The Outfit
I was looking for something other than a dress/skirt for a change and came across these Culottes on Boohoo and immediately fell in love. I adore the colour and the pleats were so different. I paired them with a simple lace up bodysuit from H&M and my Public Desire heels.
One of my heels broke while I was out and I had to come home and change them - needless to say I was devastated! No shame for them though since I've literally been wearing them every night out since I got them over a year ago! I will be taking them to get fixed because I am not ready to let them go yet! :P

For jewellery I went pretty simple - I got a choker from Penneys and just took the pendant off it and simple black studded bracelets I got years ago probably from Penneys!

Culottes - Boohoo - Saskia Pleated Wide Leg Cropped Trousers
Body Suit - H&M
Heels - Public Desire - Unable to find the suede ones but here are the PU version and they are reduced! Alaia Black PU Cut Out Lace Up Heel

The MakeUp
I was SO excited to do my makeup on Friday night as it was the first time using most of my new Inglot bits and boy I was not disappointed.

The Inglot shadows are so pigmented and the liner is literally on for life! I cannot rave about it enough, I had so much fun playing with it!

I also bought the Cailyn HD Foundation on Friday as a last minute purchase and I am very glad I did, it is the perfect night time makeup, the coverage was amazing, the finish is perfect. I got a darker shade so I can wear it with tan and it matched perfectly.

Wedding Guest Outfit

Morning Gorgeous!

I don't know if it is just me but can you believe we're half way through March already?! This year is flying in so quick.

So I got so many questions about my dress from the wedding that I said I would write a post on it to give everyone the details of the site I got it from and how I chose my size etc.

It was Lisa Jordan from JustJordanBlog that I originally found the site. I went on hoping I would find something for the wedding because I had been looking for weeks with no luck. Everything I found was too expensive and I just cannot afford to pay €150 - €200 on a dress so I set out to find something a little cheaper.
I do love a good bargain and I struggle to pay too much for one item - I've always been like that! So where there was a will there was a way, I seen this dress (or very similar) on My Celebrity Closet for €130 and I just was not prepared to pay over €100 so imagine how excited I was when I found the dress on the ROMWE site for only €38 - I ordered it whilst being a little sceptical of quality since it was so cheap.

Delivery

It arrived in 5 days which I was extremely surprised about but I noticed on the site that some of the items have a 24 hour shipping tag on them so don't expect every item you buy to be delivered so quick. For example I ordered a few other bits from there around 2 weeks ago now and still no sign of it - so allow lots of time if you're ordering anything without the 24 hour shipping on it. I've included a screen grab of the site below showing the 24 hour shipping note so you know what to look out for!

Sizing

So this is most likely the most difficult part of online shopping and this site only does sizing in Small, Medium, Large. The trick with this one is to click on the size and check the measurements, I checked a few dresses and the smalls were all different so it's important to check! I measured my waist and bust for this one to make sure it would fit. I included a screen grab from the website showing once you click it gives you the full details.
I had one small alteration to do and that was the choker part - when it was buttoned at the back it was too loose so I got it stitched so it would sit properly. It was a tiny alteration which cost €12 in The Zip Yard in Letterkenny. Apart from that the dress was absolutely perfect and the quality was amazing.

I paired the dress with simple heels from Penneys as I am quite short so the dress was slightly longer on me so the heels had to be simple. I chose a black blazer with leather lapel and I just love it, it's from H&M and it was €40 - it's the kind of blazer that will never date and will just go with everything.

I used the handbag I got at the handbag museum in Amsterdam and it had similar colours to the dress instead of going with black.

Hair and Makeup

I got both done in G&G in Letterkenny, it was my first time trying them but I was pretty impressed. I was a bit scared of the hair when it was done at first but once it dropped slightly and I put the dress on I definitely changed my mind - I got lots of lovely compliments on it and it lasted for 3 days so BONUS!
I liked my makeup too - I did have to fix my brows slightly and I also darkened the eye shadow a little but apart from that it was lovely. It photographed really well which was of course a plus. It cost €55 for both which is a pretty good deal.
The girls were really lovely in there too which makes it a nicer experience!
Of course I forgot to save the proper photos I took of the makeup - as usual!

Dress - Romwe - €36.37 - Click Here
Heels - Penneys - €18
Blazer - H&M - €39.99

So that is everything - I hope you enjoyed the read and got some good info!

Happy Shopping!

Spa Weekend

Morning Gorgeous

So as a Christmas present Mum took us to a hotel and spa in Bundoran for 2 nights and it was fab. Pure relaxation with lots of food and a few glasses of vino thrown in.

We stayed in the Holyrood Hotel and Spa - it was gorgeous. The staff were amazing, the rooms were gorgeous and the food was delish! The only complaint I had was with the breakfast, it was just ok, not terrible but not great. Everything else was perfect.

The Spa was fab, I had a back massage and boy was it relaxing! It was my first time at a spa so it was such a nice experience - will definitely be going back.

Afternoon Tea
We went into Sligo for afternoon tea on the Saturday to The Glasshouse, it as gorgeous. I love it there looking out onto the river and it started to snow while we were there so it was so beautiful! The food was delicious and there was so much of it!

On to all the outfits!

Outfit 1
On the Friday to travel down I just wore my jeans with this top from Penneys, a simple little high neck top with 3/4 length lace sleeves.

Outfit 2
On Friday night it was relatively casual - leather trousers and another high neck top. I love the colour and pattern of this. Paired with my Lasula tassel heels.

Top - H&M
Trousers - New Look
Heels - Lasula

Outfit 3
On the Saturday for Afternoon tea I wore this fab jumper dress - I found this site accidentally and it was incredibly cheap and so fab! I love the lace detail at the bottom. I recently bought a dress for a wedding in a few weeks there so I can't wait to show you all that! I paired it with my black boots but it would be perfect with heels for an evening out too!

Dress - Romwe
Boots - Penneys

Outfit 4
I just had to take the new heels for a spin so I paired them with this retro mustard tee and black leather pencil skirt - I loved this outfit. Simple but chic. I think mustard and grey are a great combo.

Tee - H&M
Skirt - Penneys
Heels - New Look

MakeUp
I stuck to the Blank Canvas Master Palette for the whole weekend so I did a lighter eye for the day and a darker version with winged liner for night. The only other thing I switched up was the lippy and maybe darkened the contour slightly.
Product list is below!

 - Day -

 - Night -

Primer - MAC Prep + Prime Natural Radiance
Foundation - Inglot HD in 71 mixed with L'oreal Infallible Stay Fresh 24h in 125 for day and 140 for night (I find the Inglot very drying so the L'oreal helps balance it out)
Powder - MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Medium
concealer - NYX Concealer in CW 02 and Laura Mercier High Coverage Concealer in 2, this was set by spraying Urban Decay All nighter spray on a beauty blender sponge.
Contour/Highlight - Sleek Face Form Contouring and Blush Palette in Light 373
Brows - Sleek Brow Kit in Dark 818
Eyeshadow - Blank Canvas Master Palette (the holy grail!)
Winged Liner - Rimmel Exaggerate Liner in 003 Black
White Liner - Catrice Cosmetics Kohl Kajal in 040 White
Mascara - Max Factor Velvet Volume False Lash Effect in Black
Blush - Laura Mercier Blush in Soft Iris
Lips -
Day - Liner is Penneys in nude and lipstick is Urban Decay Matte Stark Naked
Night - Is just liner all over, its the NYX Cabaret liner (which is amazing!)

So that's all for now, I hope you enjoyed the read!

Leather and Lace

Morning Gorgeous!

This post is all about the FABULOUS leather tassel skirt! I just adore tassels, I have so many pieces of clothing with tassels on them and I don't intend to stop buying them any time soon!

The skirt I got in H&M before Christmas, I was out shopping with 'Santa' to pick clothes for myself when I spotted this beauty. I can't remember the price exactly but I think it was only €24.99 which is such a bargain for such a fab skirt!

My boyfriend's birthday is 3 days after Christmas (I know, how inconvenient of him!) so every year I have to plan ahead for an outfit for that in my Christmas wardrobe. This year I knew I had the skirt but stupidly neglected to get a new top - I so many presents to buy I forgot to buy for myself! ;)

Here's a photo of us because I'm a sentimental little bugger!

I had this lace crop top from before my holidays and only actually wore it once so threw that on and sure it was perfect, I loved this outfit, I felt fab!
Of course I paired it with my black Public Desire heels, again! :)

The sequin jacket I bought from Boohoo last year in the sale, I can't remember how much it was now but it was so cheap, it just adds a little bit of sparkle to any outfit and I adore it. It is kind of oversized so I always fold the sleeves up to give it more structure.

I can never get a good photo of my makeup before I go out as the lighting is always terrible but I went with a brown cut crease with a bit of smokey sparkle on the lid. I included the photos below as they are the best ones I could get! I used a mix of the Blank Canvas Master Palette and the Urban Decay Smokey Palette for the look. I went for a nude lip as per usual! Check out a previous post reviewing both palettes and the lipstick I am wearing below - Here

That's all folks!

Suede and Stripes

Morning Gorgeous!

I got so many questions about the dungaree dress I was wearing on Christmas day so I wanted to write a quick post on it!

I bought this back in November, I was just browsing Missguided's site when I found it and thought it was the perfect Christmas day outfit! So naturally I bought it there and then, it was really reasonable at €35. The best thing about Missguided too is that they regularly have discount codes for a few % off so if you're trying save a few dollas then sign up to them and you'll get an email with discount codes every so often. However do be careful as you'll want to buy something every time you get an email!!

The boots came from Penneys, I was 'just in for a look' as they say and I seen them, I was looking for something plain black with a chunky heel as my old ones need replaced. These were perfect and for only €23 sure where would ye be going without them!

I was looking for a striped high neck jumper for underneath but looked everywhere and could I find what I wanted?! I ended up settling for the black high neck jumper that I had bought a few weeks previous to that and it was lovely with the outfit but I had my heart set on the striped one! Well luckily for me I have a wonderful best friend who knows what I want even when I don't tell her and she bought me the perfect striped jumper for Christmas! I know, she's a gem! So that is what I teamed with the dress and I loved it, the whole outfit was super comfy for lazing all day and plenty of give in it for all the extra turkey... Yes I had seconds, don't judge!

Boots - Penneys - €23
Dungaree Dress - Missguided - €35
High Neck Jumper - New Look - €24.99

My makeup look for the day can be seen in my previous post reviewing some makeup bits, the makeup photos featured there are from Christmas day - check it out here.
